How it started
The Great Northern Psychiatry Summer School was started in 2020 by Dr Evie Evans out of her passion for psychiatry training in the Northern deanery.
Over the years the event has grown and developed - reaching many medical students and doctors with an interest in training in psychiatry.
This year will see the first year of a hybrid event with the first two days offering online virtual sessions showcasing the different areas of psychiatry followed by day three at the Medical education Centre at St Nicholas Hospital, Gosforth, Newcastle with interactive sessions to provide a taster of the life as a psychiatry trainee in the North East.

Day 1 and 2 will provide online talks delivered by psychiatry consultants and trainees with expert experience in their field of psychiatry.
Day 3 is an in-person event where we hope to give you an insight into what it is like to train in psychiatry in the Northern Deanery with more interactive sessions and the chance to meet current trainees

Unfortunately due to privacy and confidentiality the online sessions will not be recorded.
-
You can attend as much or as little of the online days as you would like. We would of course recommend attending all the session to not miss some incredible talks.
We would advise that if attending day 3 you attend the whole day due to the organisation of the event
-
Of course even more so!
There are plenty of places to stay and things to do in the North East and the Newcastle area in particular where the event will take place
Delegates attending the third day will be given a welcome pack that contains information about the local area
