Dr Evie Evans (she/her/hers)

Dr Grace Bretnall (she/her/hers)
Co-President 2024
Grace is a core psychiatry trainee in the North East and co-president of GNPSS 2024. She came to the North East for Medical school after growing up in the South West and never looked back. She can usually be found listening to a radio drama with a craft activity and two naughty kittens.
-
Dr Ben Dempster (He/Him/His)
Co-President 2024
Ben is a current core trainee in psychiatry based in the North East an co-president of GNPSS 2024. Though originally from Northern Ireland, he has absolutely loved finding a new home in Newcastle. When not in work, he can be found clasping a flat white in the back of a coffee shop, usually trying and failing to convince his dogs to listen to anything he says.
-
Dr Thomas Cranshaw (HE/HIM/HIS)
Extracted in 1992 from the fertile soils of the leafy suburbs of Buckinghamshire and forged under immense pressure in the 7 in 1 academic Instant Pot of Oxford University, Thomas is a Forensic Higher Trainee in the North East. His current relationship status with the internet is “it’s complicated”.

Dr Jemima Mainwaring (She/Her/Hers)
Hi I’m Jemima and I’m currently a core trainee Based in the North East. I moved up here for university 11 years ago and have stayed ever since! Outside of psychiatry my favourite activities are camping, going to the beach, reading, and visiting my local wine bar
-
Dr Temidayo Kashimawo (He/Him/His)
Hi I’m Dayo. I am a Newcastle Graduate having graduated in 2017. I finished core psychiatric training in February and am taking 18 months out to locum and travel. I remember vividly going into my 3rd year psychiatry placement at St Nicholas and thinking I would hate psychiatry. However, I really enjoyed my time there and got me interested in Psychiatry. I hope this Summer School experience will be the same for all of you. I would fully recommend psychiatry as it is an enjoyable specialty and also gives us a good work-life balance.
-
Dr Emma Chaplin (She/Her/Hers)
Emma is a Core Psychiatry Trainee in the North East having returned to Newcastle after many years living in Yorkshire. Emma pursued medicine as a mature student after a very different career as a musician in an indie band in her 20s. She is a less than full time trainee with her time outside of work being spent looking after her three young children and cat!
-
Dr. Pwint Hlwa (Julie) Phyu (She/her/hers)
Julie is a clinical teaching fellow in psychiatry. When not in a clinic or a classroom, she can be found trying to finish the too many books on her shelf and sipping her caramel frappuccino while listening to Hozier’s Too Sweet. It is a well-known fact that if you talk to her for too long, she will start giving unsolicited Kdrama recommendations.
-
Dr Lachlan Fotheringham (he/him/his)
Lachlan is a Senior Teaching Fellow in psychiatry. He ventured down from Scotland to the North East for training and never got round to leaving. He likes jazz, tennis and walking the dog. He’s bad at being deliberately funny so he won’t try here.
-
Dr Sadie Kitson (she/her/hers)
